Chapter 38, Problem 2PIT
Summary Introduction

To add:

Another concept map that show nutrient cycle on land include producer, consumer, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus atmosphere and soil

Concept introduction:

The producers are basically the plants which prepare their own food and other organism depends on them for their survival. Consumers are those organisms who depend upon plants for their food. Decomposers help in the breakdown of complex molecule to simpler ones. Nutrient cycle include carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus cycle due to which energy flow takes place.

21. Decomposers are critical in the nitrogen and phosphorus cycles because they:   are responsible for the fixation of the nutrients into a bioavailable form allow for the cycling of the nutrients within the biosphere are involved in processes that return the nutrients to their major reservoirs More than one of these choices is correct.
10. Describe the process and importance of nutrient cycling in ecosystems.
8. For each of the biogeochemical cycles in the table below, list at least three areas on Earth where the chemical elements or compounds are stored (i.e., reservoirs). Biogeochemical cycles Storage pools or reservoirs Water Carbon Nitrogen Phosphorus 9. For the three biogeochemical cycles listed below, choose two reservoirs you have listed in the table from Question #8 and describe how the chemical elements/compounds moves between the two reservoirs. Note, you do not have to describe the complete cycle for each element/compound, simply describe the processes that connect two of the reservoirs that make up the cycle. Water: Carbon: Nitrogen:
