Answer to Problem 5R

To resolve and address such issues of water pollution, the local business can be asked to look into the process of their work and eliminate or substitute such waste generating processes. Moreover they can ask the local business to pay for the damage it is causing for which the  local government can also be addressed to resolve the issue for the welfare of the society as a whole.

Explanation of Solution

Ways to address the issue of water pollution caused by the local business:

    •    The local business can be asked to assess and substitute the processes which cause the water pollution by looking into the background information of their work.

    •    Local government can be approached explaining the issue and its adverse effect the society is facing so that the government can take necessary steps to resolve the issue instructing the local business.

    •    The local business can be asked not to dispose of the wastage in the nearby water bodies & even can ask to pay for the pollution the local business is creating through this negative externality which is against the welfare of the society.

Water pollution is an environmental damage caused by the people by discharging industrial and domestic waste in the water bodies like lakes, rivers, etc.

    •    Oil pollution

    •    Marine dumping

    •    Radioactive waste
