Why are many craters evident on the surface of the Moon but not on the surface of Earth?
The availability of craters on the Moon.
Answer to Problem 7TE
The environmental conditions on Moon make the craters visible on Moon for a longer period of time.
Explanation of Solution
No erosion can be seen on the surface of Moon and even Moon lacks in atmosphere and water. There is no tectonic activity observed on Moon, so in that case, small rocks can collide with the surface and makes the craters visible for a longer period of time.
Whereas Earth has an envelope of air, water, and atmosphere with the various activity such as erosion, tectonic and volcanic eruption are observed on Earth, which makes it harder to recognise craters on the Earth.
Conclusion:
Therefore, the environmental conditions on Moon make the craters visible on Moon for a longer period of time.
