To determine:
The effect of isolated small reserves on the genetic diversity of endangered species.
Introduction:
Genetic diversity gives special characteristics to the species, make them unique, genetic diversity is the reason species adapt and survive in the harsh conditions. The isolated Small reserve has a small population of many species and area, due to a reduction in population and absence of gene flow can lead to reductions in the genetic diversity of endangered species, reduced genetic diversity can lead to species extinction and reduction in reproduction.
To determine:
Effects of genetic diversity on the species when small reserves are connected with wildlife corridors.
Introduction:
Genetic diversity gives special characteristics to the species, make them unique, genetic diversity is the reason species adapt and survive in the harsh conditions. The isolated Small reserve has a small area, human’s activity is not allowed there. Wildlife corridors allow the movement of species in a protective manner from one place to another. Generally, small population lose genetic diversity easily through genetic drift but wildlife corridors help them to migrate from one place to another place which helps species to reduce the genetic drift and maintain genetic diversity

- What is the relationship between a pioneer species and primary succession? A pioneer species is an invasive species that causes areas to experience primary succession. There is not a relationship between a pioneer species and primary succession. The pioneer species only occurs in areas of secondary succession. A pioneer species is important in an area of primary succession because it can grow and thrive in areas where most other species cannot. A pioneer species only inhabits areas of primary succession.arrow_forwardIn many cases, circumstances prevent preservation of a large, unbroken area of a threatened species’ habitat. Sometimes, however, several smaller areas can be protected. In such cases, conservation biologists stress that the small areas must be linked by corridors of the appropriate habitat. Can you explain why?arrow_forwardHow can investment in a large, charismatic species also favor the conservation of other species?arrow_forward
- Are your importance values similar to importance values for the same species in the other community? What may be some reasons why the importance values for each species are different?arrow_forwardUsing the meta-community concept, is it still possible to conserve species (communities) that are greatly affected by habitat fragmentation? Suggest one possible way to effectively conserve declining diversity.arrow_forwardWhich types of species are most vulnerable to extinction?arrow_forward
- A community that does not undergo further succession is an apex community. True or false?arrow_forwardA keystone species is one whose removal from a community causes extinction of other species. How does this extinction happen?arrow_forwardHow does the bottleneck effect undermine the effort of conservation biologists who are trying to save species nearing extinction?arrow_forward
- Some people declare that we shouldn’t worry about endangered species because extinction has always occurred. How would you respond to this view?arrow_forwardConservation hotspots are best described as a. areas with large numbers of endemic species, in many of which species are disappearing rapidly. b. areas where people are particularly active supporters of biological diversity. c. islands that are experiencing high rates of extinction. d. areas where native species are being replaced with introduced species.arrow_forwardBob Davison describes the Endangered Species Act (ESA) as an effective tool for conserving biological diversity. What is his rationale for the value of focusing on individual species? The public is not concerned about the economic costs of individual species recovery. A focus on individual species is cheaper than protecting entire ecosystems. Establishing public empathy for charismatic species provides an opportunity to educate people about lesser-known species. The public tends to value intact ecosystems over particular plant and animal species.arrow_forward
