Concept introduction: Plant hormones (phytohormones) are chemical molecules that are produced by plants in very low concentrations. They do a signaling function by which all the major functions in a plant body are sequentially coordinated. Flowering process, fruit ripening, shedding of leaves are some of the major functions associated with phytohomones. In plants, they are not synthesized locally; rather, they often diffuse into all the other parts.
