Concept explainers
To determine:
The use of animals in the drugs and cosmetic testing is correct or not.
Introduction:
There are many drugs and the cosmetics used by humans. The testing of these drugs and the cosmetics are done on animals to make sure it is safe for the human use.
Explanation of Solution
The drugs and the cosmetics are tested on the animals. There are many animals which have similar body reactions to the animals. Using of animals for the test is the only way to make sure that the drug is safe for humans and can be used. The use of animals is favored due to following reasons.
- The ease of study of harmful effect is easy in animals due to the social and the ethical issues.
- The number of model organism used are more as human population has high time of replacement as they give birth to a smaller number of offspring and the time taken is more.
- The effect of drug in the animals such as rats can be studied in different age groups and generations.
