Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The repeat distance, linear density and packing factor for BCC structure of lithium in the direction of [100], [110], [111] needs to be calculated. The direction which is closed packed needs to be identified.

Concept introduction:

Lithium has a body-centered cubic structure with a lattice parameter of 0.35089 nm. The repeat distance, linear density packing fraction can be calculate using the appropriate formula which required the value of atomic radius. For BCC structure, the atomic radius can be calculated using the following formula:

  $r=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{4}{a}_o$

Here, $a_o$ is the edge length.
