The part played by the evolution of wood in modifying the terrestrial landscape.

Introduction:

Evolution of plants lead to a broad diversity of complexity starting from the earliest algal mats going through the multicellular marine and freshwater green algae to finally reaching at the complex gymnosperms and angiosperms, which can be observed today. The terrestrial landscape is not what one sees today. The plants have gone through an evolution, which has changed the entire landscape of the earth in comparison to ancient times. This became possible with the advancement and development of wood.
