Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation:
The structural formula of phenylacetylene should be determined.
Concept introduction:
The structural formula of any compound shows the bonded atoms with their symbols and
(b)
Interpretation:
The structural formula of m-dichlorobenzene should be determined.
Concept introduction:
The structural formula of any compound shows the bonded atoms with their symbols and chemical bonds with lines. The multiple bonds can be shown with the help of double and triple lines. Line formula is a way to draw structural formula in which C and H atoms are not shown as their symbols but all other atoms must be written such as O, Cl etc. Line formula is the best way to show all the bonds and bonded elements in a molecule.
(c)
Interpretation:
The name of given structure formula of molecule should be determined.
Concept introduction:
In writing the name of given aromatic structural formula, check the parent compound and then assign the position of groups bonded on the parent compound.
