Chapter 25.5, Problem 41AYP
Summary Introduction
To analyze:
The use of proteins to produce energy.
Introduction:
Proteins are chains of amino acids. Proteins in the body are constructed of 20 kinds of amino acids, which are divided into two groups: essential and nonessential. The body cannot synthesize essential amino acids, so they must be obtained in the diet. Non essential amino acids, which are necessary to construct our proteins, do not necessarily need to be ingested because they can be synthesized from essential amino acids.
