Brucellosis is a zoonotic contagious disease that is caused by coccobacilli, Gram-negative Brucella species bacteria. It occurs by ingestion of uncooked meat and unpasteurized milk from the infected animals. It is mainly a disease of cattle but can be spread to humans from cattle. It is also known as “undulant fever” or Bang’s disease.
