Antigenic drift mechanism cause variation in viruses which consists of mutations in the genes that codes for antibody binding sites. It would lead to introduce a new strain of virus that is hard to remove by the antibodies as they did for previous strains. It results in more transmission of the virus in all over the population, which has partial immunity.
