A capacitor consists of four concentric nested conducting spherical shells labeled a-d from outer to inner, with respective radii Ra>Rb>Rc>Rd (Fig. 1 below). The middle spheres b and c are joined by metal strips. Determine the capacitance of this arrangement.
A capacitance gauge consists of a 10mm diameter cylinder
which is slid into a tube with an inner diameter of 12mm. If
Teflon (K = 2.1) separates the two surfaces, calculate the
capacitance when the cylinder is slid 25mm inside the tube.
Express your answer in picofarads (pF) and round to one
decimal place.
