Concept explainers
To review:
The factors that resulted in the extinction of Ediacaran biota and the rise of the Cambrian type biota.
Introduction:
Ediacaran fossils are the strata formed by organisms found in the Ediacaran period. This period lasted from about 635 million years to 542 million years ago. Ediacaran strata are unique collection of soft-bodied organisms, mostly sessile organisms that are conserved worldwide as fossil impressions in this Ediacaran period.
The Cambrian period is the period of ancient life that lasted about 53 million years ago and it is known for dramatic evolutionary changes in life on the earth. Cambrian period faced Cambrian explosion that saw the diversity of life typically major animal groups alive today. The animal group majorly contains chordates, vertebrates such as humans.
