The reason for the location of the first step of heme synthesis in mitochondria.

Concept introduction:

The process of heme synthesis is also termed as porphyrin synthesis. It is an enzymatic process, in which all the intermediates are tetrapyrroles. The location of this pathway in mitochondria as well as the cytoplasm of the cell. This process is started by amino acid glycine and succinyl-CoA from the Krebs cycle.
