To determine:
Whether the gene therapy can be effective if the mutated gene were oncogenes.
Introduction:
The insertion of the genetic material (DNA) into the cells of the patient (human) for the treatment of the particular disorder is known as gene therapy. The procedure of the gene therapy includes an event such as a patient is given with healthy genes to make up for the diseased gene or faulty gene. The gene therapy method can be of two types in vivo or ex vivo.
To determine:
Whether the gene therapy can be effective if the mutated gene were a tumor-suppressor gene.
Introduction:
Tumor suppressor gene codes for a protein that directly or indirectly stops the cell cycle and promote the process of apoptosis. This prevents the cells from dividing “uncontrollably”.
