Distributed database:

A distributed database is a database that comprises of two or more files situated in various destinations either on a similar system or on altogether various systems. This database can be stored on different storage devices and processing is distributed among multiple databases.

Local Area Network:

  • Local area network is a network that covers a small geographical area such as homes, offices and groups of buildings.
  • Local Area Network has higher bandwidth rates.
  • It runs at a bandwidth speed of 100 Mbps, 1Gbps or 10 Gbps.
  • The network speed which is the speed in which data packets are transported is faster for LAN than for a WAN.

Wide Area Network:

  • Wide area network is a network that covers large geographical areas that can span the globe.
  • Wide area network has lower bandwidth rates compared with local area network.
  • Wide area networks run on bandwidth of 20 Mbps, 50 Mbps or 100 Mbps.
  • The network speed which is the speed in which data packets are transported is slower for WAN.

Explanation of Solution

Key differences between a local-area network and a wide-area network, that affect the design of a distributed database:

Local Area NetworkWide Area Network
LAN is used in private areasWAN is used in public areas
The data transfer rate is higher for LAN than for a WANThe data transfer rate is slower for WAN
The throughput cannot be raised through replication and fragmentationThe throughput can be raised through replication and fragmentation
The maintenance cost for a LAN is lower as it covers only smaller areas. The maintenance cost for a WAN is higher as it covers larger areas.
LAN has less congestion compared to WANWAN has more congestion compared to LAN

A cylinder of diameter 10 cm rotates concentrically inside another hollow cylinder of inner diameter 10.1 cm. Both cylinders are 20 cm long and stand with their axis vertical. The annular space is filled with oil. If a torque of 100 kg cm is required to rotate the inner cylinder at 100 rpm, determine the viscosity of oil. Ans. μ= 29.82poise
Make the following game user friendly with GUI, with some simple graphics The following code works as this: The objective of the player is to escape from this labyrinth. The player starts at the bottom left corner of the labyrinth. He has to get to the top right corner of the labyrinth as fast he can, avoiding a meeting with the evil dragon. The player can move only in four directions: left, right, up or down. There are several escape paths in all labyrinths. The player’s character should be able to moved with the well known WASD keyboard buttons. If the dragon gets to a neighboring field of the player, then the player dies. Because it is dark in the labyrinth, the player can see only the neighboring fields at a distance of 3 units.  Cell Class: public class Cell { private boolean isWall; public Cell(boolean isWall) { this.isWall = isWall; } public boolean isWall() { return isWall; } public void setWall(boolean isWall) { this.isWall = isWall; } @Override public String toString() {…
