Concept introduction: Aldehyde and ketones are organic compounds. They contain carbonyl as a functional group. In aldehyde the carbonyl group is bonded to an at least one hydrogen atom whereas in ketone it is bonded to the two carbon atoms. They are named according to the IUPAC nomenclature. Aldehyde end with al and ketone end with one.
