Concept Introduction:
The structure of the double helix of DNA is stabilized by the hydrogen bonding between the nitrogenous bases of the two strands. A purine base always forms hydrogen bonds with a pyrimidine base. Adenine and thymineget paired by two hydrogen bonds and cytosine gets pair with guanine by three hydrogen bonds.
