Summary Introduction
To determine: Difficulties in using carbon dating technique for 100 million years old fossils.
Introduction: 14C was naturally formed by the interactions of cosmic rays and atmospheric nitrogen. Plants use carbon dioxide for the process of photosynthesis. These plants are consumed by the animals. Hence this makes the availability of 14C in the animals. Carbon dating is used to determine the age of fossils. The techniques utilize the record of the amount of carbon present in the related time period and the amount of carbon left in the fossils.
