Chapter 21, Problem 6WWTS
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
In order to fight against the pathogens, the human system has a well-organized system called immune system or lymphatic system that consists of a group of cells that inhabit in all organs of our body. The components of the lymphatic system are lymphatic vessels, lymphatic organs, lymph, and lymphatic tissue that are composed of macrophages and lymphocytes. The lymphatic tissues are composed of different kinds of lymphocytes, natural killer cells, B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, etc.

It sometimes is difficult to distinguish the different lymphoid organs from one another in histological sections. How would you tell the thymus from a lymph node? (a) Only the thymus has a cortex and medulla; (b) lymphocytes are far less densely packed in the thymus than in the lymph node; (c) the thymus contains no blood vessels; (d) only the thymus has distinct lobules and thymic corpuscles.
Lymph is________ that has entered lymphatic vessels. The lymphatic system returns excess fluid that has leaked out of blood_________ to the circulatory system. Another function of the lymphatic system is to transport______ from the small intestine. Lymphatic vessels have________ that keep lymph flowing in the proper direction.
