An ecosystem is composed of living and non-living community. The biotic (living) and abiotic (nonliving) components directly involved through the nutrient cycle and energy flows. An essential component of an ecosystem are soil, minerals, nitrogen, energy and water. Basically, the energy used by an ecosystem comes from the sunlight through photosynthesis and the animals are playing an essential role in the motion of matter.
