Interpretation:
The structure of real and the fake
Concept introduction:
All the information regarding growth and development is contained within the genes present in the DNA.
DNA is a double-stranded helical structure. During cell division, each daughter cell gets a copy of the parent DNA.
The 4 nucleotide bases that make up a DNA molecule are adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G), and cytosine (C).
The complementary base for A is T and G for C.
The DNA cannot remain as a single strand; therefore, it also divides, which is known as replication.
The complementary bases are held together by hydrogen bonds, which are directed towards the interior of the DNA helix.

INTRODUCTORY CHEMISTRY-W/SEL.SOLN.MAN.
- The base composition for one of the strands of a DNA double helix is 19% A, 34% C, 28% G, and 19% T. What is the percent base composition for the other strand of the DNA double helix?arrow_forwardGiven the following nucleotide sequence in DNA: 5' TCGTAGGAT 3': (a) Determine the sequence of the complementary strand of DNA. Report this sequence by writing it from its 5' end to its 3' end. (b) Write the sequence (5'-3') for the strand of mRNA that would be complementary to the original strand of DNA. (c) Assuming that this sequence is part of the coding sequence for a protein and that it is properly lined up so that the first codon of this sequence begins with the 5' nucleotide of the mRNA, write the sequences for the three anti- codons that would be complementary to this strand of mRNA. (d) What sequence of amino acids is selected by this mRNA? (The complete genetic code is listed in several sites on the Internet.)arrow_forwardWhich base is found in DNA but not in RNA? a. thymine b. cytosine c. guanine d. adeninearrow_forward
