Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Erythropoiesis is the process of the formation of erythrocytes. It is a part of hematopoiesis, which occurs in the red marrow cells. Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are resident cells of the bone marrow that differentiate to form committed progenitor cells, erythrocyte colony-forming units (CFUs). CFUs further differentiate to form proerythroblasts, which further develop to form erythroblasts. Erythroblasts mature and shedtheir nuclei to form reticulocytes. Subsequently, other organelles are ejected out as well, transforming into erythrocytes.
