Atrium
Explanation of Solution
Atrium is the upper chamber of the heart, where the blood enters. There are two atria in the human heart; they are the right and left atria. The right atrium receives the deoxygenated blood through the inferior and superior vena cava veins, while the left atrium receives the oxygenated blood through the pulmonary veins. The atrial chamber facilitates and pumps blood to the ventricular chamber for blood circulation. Atrial walls are much thinner in musculature, when compared to the ventricle of the heart which forcibly pumps blood out of the heart.
