To determine: The precautions that have to be taken in a client with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis who is having extensive dental work performed.
Introduction: It is necessary to maintain a homeostatic balance or equilibrium in the blood composition and body fluids. Thus, the kidney failure may require an artificial intervention in the form of a dialysis. A dialysis involves filtration of a solution, such as lymph and blood and dialyzing fluid or dialysate through a semipermeable membrane. This semipermeable membrane separates the blood from the dialysate and the constituents move in between these two compartments. The dialysis can be of two types – hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
