The hormones are the chemical messengers that are released directly into the blood by the endocrine glands. They travel in the blood and bind to specific receptors on the target cells. The release of the hormones from the glands is regulated by different signals. When the endocrine glands are stimulated by the signals, the release of hormones, which was otherwise negligible occurs in frequent bursts.
