Chapter 17.1, Problem 3CC
Summary Introduction

To determine: The ratio of “T” to “t”allele in the F2 progeny and identify if the ratio is similar to the phenotypic ratio 3:1.

Introduction: An allele is defined as a variant of a gene responsible for coding a specific character. There are atleast two different alleles for each phenotypic characteristics. One allele is dominant while the other form of the allele is recessive. The interaction between the alleles is responsible for different phenotypic traits. These interactions can produce three types of genotypes: homozygous dominant, heterozygous and homozygous recessive.

Highlight Draw ソeu र In guinea pigs, short hair is dominant over long hair. If a short haired SS guinea pig is erossed with a long haired ss guinea pig, what are the possible genotypes and phenotypes of their offspring and the percent chance of each? 3. S Fill in the table: Genotype Phenotype Chance
Direction: Answer the following problems: 1. Predict the phenotypic ratios of offspring when a homozygous white cow is crossed with a roan bull. Illustrate using a Punnett square. 2. Complete the Punnett square for a cross between a black chicken (BB) and a white chicken (WW). Give the phenotype of the offspring in the F1 generation.
