And mass number of oxygen is A =16
Number of neutron in oxygen nucleus is,
Now, two proton and two neutrons are removed from nucleus.
Therefore, now number of proton =8-2=6
Number of neutron =8-2=6
Mass number will be,
From periodic table element with atomic number 6 and mass number 12 is carbon.
Conclusion :
Therefore, nucleus of carbon will remain.
