Concept explainers
To write:
The substrate required for the Serine/threonine-protein kinase (Ste 11) in the mating factor signaling pathway. The induction of osmolytes required for survival in high-osmotic-strength media is prevented by the Ste 11. As Ste 11 also play a role in the MAP kinase pathway started by the high osmolarity.
Introduction:
When the growth factor receptor-bound protein 2 (GRB2) gets bind to the Epo receptor. Then the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAP kinase) signaling pathway gets activated. It results in the MAP kinase translocation to the cell nucleus, where it gets phosphorylated. This then regulates the transcription factors activity. Serine/threonine-protein kinase (Ste 11) is needed for the signal transduction and cell-type-specific transcription in yeast.
