Isomerization reaction is the chemical process by which a compound is transformed into any of its isomeric forms with the same chemical composition but with different structure or configuration and, hence, generally with different physical and chemical properties. For example, propane or propylene can be converted into cyclopropane in an isomerization reaction. Assume 255 g of propene (propylene) are converted into cyclopropane at 25 oC as shown below:
