Interpretation:

A DNA fragment is sequenced and the following complementary chain pieces are obtained from the four tubes.

  1. 1. The ddATP tube contains ATG and ATATG.
  2. 2. The ddTTP tube contains TG and TATG.
  3. 3. The ddCTP tube contains CATATG.
  4. 4. The ddGPT tube contains G.

The sequence of bases in the DNA fragment has to be given.  A sketch of the electrophoresis gel for the fragment has to be drawn.

Concept Introduction:

To give the sequence of bases in the DNA fragment, the longest complementary chain piece can be used.  The base ‘A’ pairs with base ‘T’ and base ‘G’ pairs with base ‘C’.
