To write:

The role of the respiratory center, carotid bodies, and vagus nerve in controlling respiration.

Given:

The respiration process is regulated mainly by the respiratory center. The vagus nerve and carotid bodies regulate the respiratory center depending upon the blood oxygen level and metabolic state of the body.

Introduction:

The normal breathing rate in resting condition is 12 to 20 ventilations every minute. The breathing rate of the respiratory system is controlled by various factors such as the respiratory center, vagus nerve in overactive metabolic condition and the carotid bodies in abnormal blood oxygen level.
