Chapter 15.1, Problem 2ELO
Summary Introduction
To identify:
Relationship between immunocompetence, antigens, specificity and memory with immune system.
Introduction:
Immunocompetence is defined as the ability of the body to recognize and react with multiple foreign substances.
Antigens are defined as that any cell, particle, or chemical that has properties that allow it to stimulate a specific immune response by B cells or T cells.
Specificity is defined as limited to a single, precise characteristic or action.
Memory is defined as long-lived progeny of a sensitized lymphocyte that remains in circulation and is genetically programmed to react rapidly the next time it encounters its antigen.
