Chapter 14, Problem 2MC
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Hematopoiesis is a term that refers to the complete procedure of the formation, maturation, and differentiation of all the blood cells. It starts in the yolk sac during embryological stage the progress to the liver and finally to bone marrow. HSC (hematopoietic stem cells) are the cells that ultimately give rise to the blood cells. The soft and gelatinous tissue found inside the bone is known as the bone marrow. There is red bone marrow rich in HSC and there is yellow bone marrow rich in the mesenchymal stem cells, which form thefat, bone, and cartilage.
