Introduction:

The colon is a region of large intestine which forms a U-shaped inverted arch. The mucosa tunic of large intestine has higher percentage of mucin secreting goblet cells. To prevent the abrasion of large intestine due to the movement of undigested substances, large intestine contains a greater percentage of mucin secreting goblet cells.

Many bacteria live in the colon of human and receive a moist, warm, and nutrient-rich environment in which it can proliferate and human absorb vitamin precursors along with other nutrients from bacteria.
