Interpretation:

The pH of solutions that turns colourless and dark pink on adding phenolphthalein is to be determined.

Concept Introduction:

The pH of a solution is measured by a pH meter or by using indicators. Indicators are brightly coloured organic dyes and are weak acids and bases. They give different colours in different pH ranges of the solution.
