To review:
The factor responsible for the initiation of directionality of neural tube closure. Whether the cell forces which acts as zipper in the primitive chordate Ciona are conserved in all vertebrates.
Introduction:
The process of neural tube closure does not takes place simultaneously along the entire neural ectoderm. The phenomenon of neural tube closure is well observed in amniote reptiles, where the body axis is elongated before the neurulation. The two open ends of the neural tube are known as anterior neuropore and posterior neuropore. In case of chicks, initation of neural tube closure takes place at the level of future midbrain followed by zipping in both directions. The direction of “zipping up” of neural tube posses variation in different categories of organism.

Why do neurons generate an action potential, instead of simply relying on the opening of ion channels near the stimulus site to transmit information? Because, without the action potential, changes in Vm at the stimulus site might not reach the axon terminal Because without the action potential, the neuron would not depolarize Because action potentials help the body keep ion concentrations at appropriate levels Because, without the action potential, the neuron would not return to resting potential Submitarrow_forward
