Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The period of pregnancy is divided into trimesters of three months each. Therefore, there are three trimesters. In the second and the third trimester, the fetus grows in size, hence, requires more and more nutrition for proper development. This nutrition is taken from the mother’s blood. Hence, in the second trimester 350 extra calories and in the third trimester 450 extra calories intake is required by the pregnant women which is above the allowance for non-pregnant women.
