Answer to Problem 3MRE

Solution for the indicated variable is $b=\frac{2A-hc}{h}$

And restriction for the indicated variable is at $h=0$ .

Explanation of Solution

Given information:

  $A=\frac{h\left(b+c\right)}{2}$...... $\left(1\right)$

Indicated variable b.

Get b alone on one side from equation 1.

  $\begin{array}{l}2A=hb+hc\\ 2A-hc=hb\end{array}$

  $\frac{2A-hc}{h}=b$

The solution of variable b is meaningful if and only if $h\ne 0$ , so the restriction for the indicated variable is at $h=0$ .
