Concept explainers
To determine:
Definition of the term gene regulation, operon, mutation, and mutagen.
Explanation of Solution
Gene regulation is a process of turning on and off of a gene. Gene regulation ensures the appropriate expression of a gene when required and turning off genes that are not required to be expressed.
Operon is a unit of DNA which is a cluster of genes that have a single promoter. They are expressed together or not all expressed.
Mutation is an alteration in the DNA sequence of an organism, which may result in a change in the expression of the gene. The substance, which leads to the change in the DNA sequences and has a potential to cause mutation is called mutagens.
