Concept explainers
a.
To label: The components of skeletal muscle fibers in Fig 12.3(a).
Concept introduction: Each skeletal muscle is regarded as an organ that composes of different integrated tissues. Some of these tissues are skeletal muscle fibers, connective tissues, nerve fibers, and blood vessels.
b.
To label: The components of skeletal muscle fibers in Fig 12.3(b).
Concept introduction: Every skeletal muscle fiber consists of connective tissues termed as “mysia”. These connective tissue layers enclose the muscle fibers. Also, they provide the muscle as a whole of its structural framework.
c.
To label: The components of skeletal muscle fibers in Fig 12.3 (c).
Concept introduction: The force that can be generated by a muscle fiber is determined by the muscle fascicle. Skeletal muscle cells appear as long, cylindrical structures; therefore, they are generally referred to as muscle fibers.
