Introduction:

The following mechanisms can be logically constructed to understand the reason behind drying of wet clothes:

Mechanism 1: The liquid particles in the wet cloth move into the interior of the cloth and are still present there, even though the cloth looks dry.

Mechanism 2: The air in the ambience of the wet cloth pulls the water particles out of cloth.

Mechanism 3: The liquid particles are always in motion inside the wet cloth. They strike and bump into each other and with time they strike one another out of the cloth one by one.

Explanation:

Every object is made up of elementary particles called atoms and molecules. The wet clothes have water molecules spread over the surface. These water molecules bump into each other and strike out each other one by one until the wet cloth dries. When the water particles bump into each other, they result in elastic collision.

Conclusion:

The water particles spread over the wet cloth bump into each other and strike out each other one by one until the last water particle move out of the cloth and results in drying.
