The three groups of the neurons are the sensory neurons, motor neurons and the interneurons. The sensory neurons have their cell bodies in the peripheral nervous system. They transmit the impulses towards the brain from the spinal cord. They are unipolar neurons. The motor neurons or the efferent neurons transmit impulses from the brain towards the muscles. Interneurons are located between the sensory and the motor neurons. They have a role in control, coordination, and communication between the neurons. They lead to the growth of the memory and the learning processes.
