The electromagnetic radiations are arranged in an order ranging from low-frequency radiation to high radiations. This arranged order is called an electromagnetic spectrum.

The order of radiations ranging from low frequency to high frequency is radio waves, microwaves, infrared waves, ultraviolet (UV) waves, X-ray, and gamma rays.

Radio waves have a larger wavelength and they are used for communication purposes.

Infrared rays have lesser wavelengths compared to radio waves and they are used for thermal imaging and medical diagnosis. Ultraviolet has the least wavelength than radio and infrared waves and they are used for purification and forensic purpose.
