Explanation of Solution
Given information:The measure of variability of a given set of data is the range of that data.
For a given set of data
An outlier is that data value which lies very far away from the median of the data set. Hence they are found either at the first place (least value) or at the last place (largest value) of the list of data.
If either of these values are very far away from the median then the range of the data set will drastically change as the range is dependent on the largest and the least value, therefore it will no longer be the correct representative of the given set of data. Hence an outlier must be removed from the set of data in order to fix the range.
