In the mechanism, curved arrows are used to indicate movement of electrons from electron-rich to electron-deficient species. A proton transfer reaction is the one in which a proton gets transferred in the overall reaction. In an SN2 reaction, a nucleophile attacks an electrophile and the leaving group is replaced by a nucleophile. In an intramolecular SN2 reaction, the leaving group and a nucleophile are present within the molecule.
