Define thermal conductivity and explain its significance in heat transfer.
Mechanism of Heat Transfer A vacuum flask or commonly known as thermos bottle is a material that minimizes transfer of heat from the object inside to the surrounding. How does this object minimize heat transfer? HINT: Observe the materials that compose your thermos bottle and its interior. Evaluate how these materials emphasize the mechanism of heat transfer.
The number of kilocalories in food is determined by calorimetry techniques in which the food is burned and the amount of heat transfer is measured. Chart attached.
How many kilocalories per gram are there in a 5.25-g peanut if the energy from burning it is transferred to 0.515 kg of water held in a 0.095-kg aluminum cup, causing a 54.9°C temperature increase?
