The figure above shows a uniform beam of length 2.42m and mass of 2.97kg that hangs horizontally and is attached to a vertical wall. A block of mass 2.97kg is suspended from the far end of the beam by a cable. A support cable has a tension of 102N runs from the wall to the outer edge of the beam and makes a 30 degree with the horizontal. Both cables are of negligible mass.
If this system is in equilibrium what must be the mass of the beam?
