People differently about those afflicted with mental illness because they feel like they are out of the ordinary and abnormal. 

People are judgemental in nature and seeing someone afflicted with mental in less mix them think about it from a judgemental point of view . They do not think about it being a genetic disorder and something that can be inherited and has no basis or causes due to any real life events.

People tend to associate mental illness with weak mental resolve low self esteem low confidence and other self afflicting personality disorders ,  people also associated mental illness with trauma either mental or social . It is due to these reasons that people treat mental illness as something of a taboo .
